Los Angeles 2012:
21st Biennial APWU National Convention
Monday, Aug. 20 – Friday, Aug. 24
|
The American Postal Workers Union’s 21st Biennial Convention is set for Monday, Aug. 20, through Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The National Convention is the union’s highest decision-making body and helps the union chart its course for the future. More than 2,000 APWU delegates will debate and vote on resolutions that will be introduced on a wide variety of subjects. The resolutions give focus to the union’s goals and help us better serve our members.
APWU locals and state organizations are urged to send their full quota of delegates. Members-at-Large (MAL) also are encouraged to attend.
Several other important union events will take place in the days before the convention. The APWU Research & Education Department will conduct a series of workshops on Friday, Aug. 17. Division Meetings for each of the crafts — Clerk, Maintenance, Motor Vehicle Service, and Support Services — are set for the weekend of Aug. 18-19, as is the APWU Retiree’s Conference. The Bulk Mail Center (BMC) Conference will be held on Aug. 18. Click here for a schedule of convention events.
Plan Your Stay Well Ahead
Even though the convention is months away, it is essential for all locals, state organizations, members-at-large, and retirees to make their hotel arrangements as soon as possible. Click here for hotel information.
