The following are the “top of the Top 10” locals:
2,000-5,000 Members — Boston Metro Area Local (93%);
1,000-1,999 Members — Broward County Area Local (96%);
500-999 Members — Philadelphia BMC Local and Buffalo Area Local (97%);
200-499 Members — El Paso Area Local (96%);
100-199 Members — Clarksburg (WV) Local (95%); and
50-99 Members — Gadsden (AL) Area Local, Fort Dodge (IA) Local, and Aurora (IL) Local (100%).
Special Honors
The Detroit District Area Local and Pittsburgh Metro Area Local each were honored for representing “100 percent APWU” private-sector shops. Also awarded were the top organized “Member-At-Large” state organizations (Massachusetts and Arkansas) and the “largest most-organized local” (New York Metro Area Local).
Congratulations are due these locals for several jobs well done — not only did they bring up the membership numbers, but the results they achieved stand as clear examples of what can be accomplished when organizers answer the question, “What’s In It for You?” by making organizing a top priority.
