Retirees to Get Big Cost-of-Living Raise
Increases to be Reflected in January Annuity Checks

(10/16/08) Postal and federal workers who retired under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) will soon receive the largest cost-of-living allowance (COLA) in more than 25 years, and the COLA for the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) is its largest COLA ever, according to information released by the Department of Labor. The increases will become effective Dec. 1 and will be reflected in January annuity checks. [read more]

Retirees COLAs Reflected In January Checks

(01/02/08) Cost-of-Living Adjustments for retirees, which took effect Dec. 1, 2007, will be reflected in annuity payments dated Jan. 2, 2008.

CSRS (Civil Service Retirement System) annuitants who have received benefits for at least a year received an increase of 2.3 percent; FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System) annuitants who have received benefits for at least a year received an increase of 2 percent.
