Financial Issues for Local and State Union Officers:
Contract Wage Increase Affects Dues
(02/06/08) A salary increase negotiated in the form of an upgrade in the 2006-2010 Collective Bargaining Agreement will take effect Feb. 16. In accordance with Article 16, Section 2(a) of the APWU Constitution and Bylaws, this will result in a corresponding dues increase.
For career employees, the dues increase will amount to $1.36 cents per pay period, with 86 cents going to their locals and 50 cents going to the national union’s general fund, including the Organizing Fund.
Dues for Transitional Employees will be increased by 86 cents per pay period, with 54 cents for the locals and 32 cents to the national APWU’s general fund.
Local or state organizations that choose to absorb their portion of the dues increase must notify the APWU Per Capita Department in writing, no later than Feb. 13, 2008.
