80 postal workers protest consolidation
Thursday, October 26, 2006
Nearly 80 postal workers from around the state met in Fort Myers today to protest the consolidation of mail distribution centers around the country.
The workers, all part of the American Postal Workers Union, were upset because the Fort Myers distribution center on Daniels Parkway is on a list along with 139 centers that could be consolidated. Fort Myers would be consolidated with a center in Sarasota.
"This would affect the type of service people get," said Mike Sullivan, president of Suncoast Area Local in St. Petersburg.
Sullivan came from St. Petersburg to protest the list. Post office officials have said that Fort Myers is not at risk of being consolidated, despite being on the list.

Postal Workers protesting... ?
Hmmmm... I wonder if the bomb threat in our Naples post office has anything to do with this protesting? Hope they are investigating that possibility too.

There are crack pots in all walks of life... taking chances to get what they want. It could be anyone.
For example... Mr. Foley who was high up on the hill at the time he did something stupid. Also the recent band leader in the news too did something really stupid. You can't fix stupid.

I feel for the employees but this is business and costs need to be controlled. We don't need another postal rate increase because of mis-management by the US Post Office.
