The goal is to make the public aware of potential cost-cutting measures by the USPS that could close, or consolidate, small post offices, according to picketers.
Katherine Donner, a postal clerk in North Platte, said none of the post offices in this area are slated for closure or consolidation.
"We want to make people aware that this could happen here, and the post office will do it without public input," she said.
According to Donner, the USPS is seeking to implement the measures through a reform bill that is going through Congress.
Steve Morton, also from North Platte, said he didn't want to see the public lose the service they get from the post offices.
"Service is our last name," he said.
