Union Mourns of Loss of Senator Kennedy

The American Postal Workers Union joins the nation in mourning the death of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, a life-long champion of labor.

“Ted Kennedy was instrumental in passing legislation of great importance to working people,” said APWU President William Burrus, “including minimum wage laws, the Family & Medical Leave Act, and workers safety protection. He was a fierce advocate of desperately-needed healthcare reform, and an ardent support of the Employee Free Choice Act. He will be sorely missed.”

The American Postal Workers Union (APWU) is the world’s largest postal union, representing approximately 300,000 postal workers in the Clerk, Maintenance and Motor Vehicle crafts.
