Final Deliberations of the 2004 APWU Convention

On the final day of the APWU 17 th Biennial Convention, delegates authorized retired APWU members to elect the Retirees Department Director. The current director, John R. Smith, serves by presidential appointment.
Delegates also voted to automatically pay arbitration advocates for 16 hours when they are scheduled to hear cases, with eights hours dedicated to case preparation and the remaining eight hours to attend hearings.
The convention also unanimously adopted a resolution to seek a postage stamp commemorating Moe Biller, the union’s president from 1980-2001, who passed away last year.
Delegates adopted the recommendations of numerous committees, including Appeals, Legislative, Maintenance, Motor Vehicle, Safety and Health, Organization, Human Relations, and Formal Resolutions.
