As representatives of Postal Service employees in every community across the nation, we join the Postmaster General in offering our condolences and prayers to the families of the victims of yesterday’s senseless shootings at the Santa Barbara mail processing facility. We offer our full support to facility employees who suffered through this terrible ordeal.

While it is almost impossible to comprehend the reason for these irrational acts of violence, we are certain of one thing — they are in no way representative of the men and women of the Postal Service. Each and every day, the Postal Service’s 700,000 employees — valued and trusted members of every community they serve — work hard to provide the best mail service possible to every American family and business.

We salute their efforts. We appreciate their dedication. And we want them to know that our thoughts are with them, today and every day.
