This grievance involved special requirements for the position of Maintenance Mechanic, MPE Level 6, that were attached to a Notice of Intent issued on February 3, 1982. During the Step 4 discussion, the parties agreed that candidates for vacant Maintenance Mechanic, MPE level 6, positions are required to complete the appropriate examination and that the Postal Service may require qualified applicants to satisfactorily complete a prescribed training course prior to assignment, reassignment, or promotion to the position.
