The issue in this grievance is whether the grievant was properly compensated for "booting the system" in the CFS unit. The facts in this case indicate that the grievant was a Markup Clerk-Automated (PS-4) and was required to "boot" or initialize the CFS system at the beginning of the workday. The Union contends that the "booting" of the CFS system is a Senior Markup Clerk-Automated Clerk (PS-5) duty and the grievant should have been compensated at the level 5 rate of pay. It is the position of the Postal Service that "booting the system" in CFS is properly performed by the Markup Clerk-Automated (PS-4). This duty is similar to the starting of any word processing or similiar office equipment. These duties have been performed consistently by level 4 employees such as the Clerk-Typist (PS-4). Based upon the above considerations, this grievance is denied.
