APWU’s organizing drive got a good start during National Organizing Week, with locals across the country reaching out to potential members and inviting them to join the union.

The campaign emphasizes the Postal Service’s severe financial crisis and the threat it poses to postal workers. Organizing flyers point out that participation by all postal employees is crucial to protecting our jobs and asks, Are You In?

Memphis Area Local members set up organizing sessions during lunch breaks and distributed flyers on union benefits and legislative issues. “Locals and state organizations must continue the organizing campaign,” said APWU President Cliff Guffey. “Bringing in new members is essential to our survival.

“The Postal Service is in danger of collapse, and our members’ jobs are threatened,” he said.

“We must ask non-members to join the union, and we must encourage all union members to get actively involved in the political arena to help protect our future,” he said.
