The question in this grievance is whether management violated Article 17 of the National Agreement as it relates to time spent by employees traveling to and from Step 2 meetings. During our discussion, we agreed to resolve this issue based on our mutual understanding that, when it becomes necessary for a steward to leave his/her work area to investigate, present and adjust grievances, management will compensate the steward for time spent traveling to and from his/her work area within the same building. We also agreed that stewards, as well as witnesses required to attend Step 2 meetings, will be compensated for time spent traveling to and from Step 2 meetings provided the travel is not outside the building.
