USPS Position Letter: Article 12; Principles of Seniority, Posting and Reassignment (1980)

Principles of Seniority , Posting and Reassignment

return to Contract Database

In this grievance, a supervisor returned to the clerk craft after an absence of more than 2 years. He was given a new seniority date and placed in a full-time regular clerk position. The Union alleges that he should have been placed in a part-time flexible position. It is our position that no contractual provision or regulation preclude management from placing an employee in a full-time craft assignment under the above circumstances. Management's obligations as per Article 12, Section 2:B.2 were fully met with the establishment of the new seniority date. No other obligation exists. Accordingly, this grievance is denied.
