Headlines are frantically declaring that the Postal Service is running out of money. Last month, Postmaster General David Steiner testified to Congress that the Postal Service is in financial jeopardy and could fail within a year. This week, the White House signed an executive order to curtail Vote-by-Mail, raising concerns about the future of the Postal Service’s role in America.
So, what is really happening with the Postal Service? On April 14, APWU President Jonathan Smith is hosting a livestream to answer your questions about the Postal Service’s financial condition and future. While the USPS is certainly facing financial challenges, the APWU has been warning management and the public about them for decades. There are real, common-sense solutions available that APWU President Smith will share on the livestream, which you can join at apwu.org/live on April 14 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
The first half of the livestream will cover the financial situation that Postmaster General David Steiner outlined in his testimony, followed by the APWU’s vision for how to fix it in a way that works for postal workers and America.
The second half is for you—APWU members and viewers. The last 30 minutes will be open for a Questions and Answers session with President Smith, where you can ask him your questions. You don’t want to miss this—join our April APWU Livestream: Are we broke or is there hope?
