‘Ask a Working Woman’ Survey
August 5, 2010
Working women have important opinions about the economy, health care, balancing work and family responsibilities, and jobs — and union leaders want to hear them!
The APWU is encouraging members to make their voices heard by taking part in the AFL-CIO’s 2010 “Ask a Working Woman” survey. The thought-provoking survey is an important tool used to identify issues and concerns of working women, and to move women’s issues into the national dialogue.
The survey asks participants questions about their jobs, their free time, and what would make their lives better. Conducted every two years for more than a decade, the 2008 survey generated thousands of responses from women across the country.
This year, the response is anticipated to be even greater. Members are encouraged to share their thoughts about their job, how the recession has affected them and their families, and hopes and concerns for what lies ahead in the next five years.
The survey will be done online through Aug. 13, 2010. For facts and statistics about the struggles of working women in today’s global economy, visit the AFL-CIO’s Working Women Web pages.
