APWU Calls for Action to End the Government Shutdown

The American Postal Workers Union is calling on members and allies to take action as the government shutdown drags on, leaving hundreds of thousands of federal workers without pay and millions of Americans at risk of losing vital public services.

While postal workers are not impacted, many of our union siblings across the federal workforce have been locked out or forced to work without pay. The longer the shutdown continues, the more working families will be forced to make impossible choices about rent, groceries, and medical care.

“Postal workers know what solidarity means,” said APWU President Mark Dimondstein. “When one group of working people is under attack, all of us feel the impact. It’s time for Congress to end this shutdown and fund the services our communities depend on.”

At stake are essential health programs and community services that millions rely on. Cuts and delays to healthcare funding mean preventable illnesses go untreated, and lives are put at risk.

Members are encouraged to call their senators today and urge immediate action to reopen the government, protect healthcare benefits, and ensure public services are fully funded.
