After several months of negotiating with the USPS, the APWU was successful in obtaining a five-year extension for the Electronic Grievance System (EGS). Although the USPS and APWU have agreed to meet every five years to review the program’s results and make necessary modifications, the program is now considered permanent.

A Questions & Answers document was prepared to provide members more information regarding the implementation program in the field.

“National Business Agents should place special attention to Question 7,” said Industrial Relations Director Tony D. McKinnon Sr. “This question includes a sample of an EGS Report, which serves as a local’s ‘Proof of Delivery.’ The report will tell you that the appeal was sent and when it was viewed.”
