The APWU and the Postal Service have agreed to a moratorium on grievances, disciplinary actions and arbitration hearings at the national, regional, state and local levels from Aug. 15 until Sept. 9 due to the 2016 APWU Biennial Convention, Industrial Relations Director Tony D. McKinnon Sr. has announced. The period spans a total of 26 days.

According to the agreement, for all grievances and appeals to arbitration, the time for filing and/or appeal will be extended for a period of 26 days beyond those specified in the National Agreement. In addition, suspensions that would otherwise be served because no grievance had been filed within 14 days or because no appeal had been filed to the next step of the grievance-arbitration procedure will be deferred for the 26-day extension period.

No arbitrations will be scheduled between Aug. 15 and Sept. 9, 2016.
