An agreement between the APWU and USPS [PDF] establishes a new Customer Care Center (CCC) in Wichita KS.

The new CCC will be located at the Remote Encoding Center (REC) site, which is scheduled to close no later than November 14. The Wichita REC site images will be transitioned to the Salt Lake City UT REC.

The MOU, which outlines the procedures for bargaining unit staffing, results in 251 Customer Care Agent, Level 7 duty assignment postings in the Wichita bid cluster, allowing for placement of all of employees and avoiding excessing. Employees at the Wichita REC had been previously notified of potential excessing as a result of closing.

Clerk Craft Director Clint Burelson stated, “These higher-level, Tour 2 duty assignments will be in high demand and will go a long way in relieving the anxiety felt by the 251 clerk craft employees facing excessing. “

The additional CCC will alleviate some of the waiting time experienced by customers served by the three area Call Centers established under the 2010-2015 CBA Clerk Craft Jobs Audit.

“I want to congratulate the Clerk Craft officers for a job well done,” said President Mark Dimondstein. “It is a settlement that does an excellent job protecting the employees and creating new work opportunities for our bargaining unit.”
