Contract Negotiation Updates
January 17, 2017
Information Technology/Accounting Services Group
The APWU and USPS started negotiations in mid-November for an Information Technology/Accounting Services group successor collective bargaining agreement. The current extension agreement is set to expire on January 20, 2017.
In the last few months, many economic and non-economic proposals were exchanged and debated. While progress was made, the union and management are still apart on some core issues.
The parties agreed to extend the negotiation period until February 24, 2017. Many sessions are set up in the weeks ahead to continue negotiations in hopes that the APWU and USPS can come to an agreement.
PAE Mail Transport Equipment Service Center
On January 23, 2017, negotiations will begin for an initial collective bargaining agreement for the newly unionized Mail Transport Equipment Service Center in Urbandale, IA, employed by Pacific Architects and Engineering, Inc. (PAE).
Salmon Companies
Initial meetings are set up for the APWU bargaining team representing employees from the private sector mail hauling company, Salmon Companies. The parties will meet in February and March in attempt to reach a successor agreement. The current collective bargaining agreement expires March 31, 2017.
