The Des Moines Area Local held a series of rallies in May and June to win support for Good Postal Service! Good Jobs! Good Contract!

Members held events at the South Des Moines, Urbandale, Ash Creek, University and Main Post Office Station, as well as at the Des Moines Processing & Distribution Center.

“The message to postal patrons [was about] better service, good jobs and the fact that the Postal Service operates on zero taxpayer dollars!” said Michael Bates, president of the local.

Lonnie Matticks, the local’s Contract Action Team director, distributed flyers to customers and ”held conversation after conversation” with customer who  were mad – “and that’s what makes us mad,” Bates said.

“Enough is enough,” Matticks said. “It’s time to give excellent service and Stop Delaying America’s Mail! Contract NOW!”
