APWU Secretary-Treasurer Liz Powell received the Breaking Barriers Award at the National Action Network’s Annual Martin Luther King Day Awards Ceremony on Jan. 18, where she was recognized for activism in the APWU. Powell was the first female president of her local and the first woman elected to the union’s National Executive Board.

"We're so proud that Sister Liz Powell was honored for her many years of union leadership," said President Mark Dimondstein. "Her contributions are enormous."
