Promotion Charts

Thanks to language in our collective bargaining agreement, postal workers are guaranteed advancements up our pay scales after a certain amount of time. Upon promotion, postal workers move into a different pay grade. You can use the charts on this page to match your pay grade.

How to Use Promotion Charts

  1. In the shaded ‘From Grade’ section, find the grade-step that the employee currently holds prior to promotion.
  2. In the shaded ‘To Grade’ section, immediately below the ‘From Grade’ section, find the grade level to which the employee is being promoted.
  3. Starting from the upper left, move across towards the right from the promoted grade, and down to the step from which promoted, and assign the intersecting step.

Example: an employee FROM a Grade 4, step H in Schedule-2 is PROMOTED to a Grade 6 in Schedule-2.

Go to the section marked “From Grade 4” and move across to Step H. Next, go down to Grade 6 in the light shaded section, and follow along until you come to the intersection at Step H. Assign Step H as the new step to which one is promoted.

Information regarding your pay schedule, series, and grade can be found on your PS Form 50, Notification of Personnel Action.
