The APWU and USPS reached an agreement in August to address a problem associated with grievance processing, Industrial Relations Director Tony D. McKinnon Sr. has announced.

“After hearing countless horror stories of management denying grievances or refusing to discuss them because cases had no grievance number, I began negotiations to alleviate the problem,” he said. “This intentional practice by management was denying our members their day in court.”

The settlement requires the Postal Service to input union appeals to Step 2 of the grievance procedure into the Grievance-Arbitration Tracking System (GATS) within 72 and advise the APWU of the GATS number.
