Today three APWU bargaining unit employees were injured when the North Houston PDC’s roof collapsed amid severe weather conditions.

“We are relieved that all employees are accounted for and the injuries resulting from this serious accident were all non-life threatening,” said President Dimondstein. “Our hearts go out to everyone suffering from this incident and also to those impacted by the widespread and damaging flooding by Tropical Storm Imelda.”

Director Zimmerman has been in constant contact with USPS management in Washington, D.C. and with the leadership of the Houston Area Local. The APWU National will continue to support the Houston Area local and members during this difficult time.

“We are sending a national safety representative to assist the local members with their safety concerns and in the investigation to determine the cause of the collapse,” said Industrial Relations Director Vance Zimmerman. “No postal worker’s life should ever be at risk.”
