Night Shift Differential Rates
For time worked between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., employees shall be paid additional compensation at the applicable flat dollar amount at each pay grade and step.
What that means in practice:
- Built-in premium for night work that scales with your pay grade and step. The rate is locked into the union contract and can be changed only at the bargaining table
- Stacks on top of the APWU’s full Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLA) so every hour is worth more after each salary increase against inflation.
- A benefit won, and safeguarded, through collective action. Management never volunteers extra pay; we win it by standing together.Keeping the night-shift differential strong, and raising it in future rounds, depends on every APWU member being engaged in the fight for good paying jobs.
