APWU, USPS Extend Memo on Filling Clerk Craft Residual Vacancies

The APWU and USPS have agreed to extend a March 20 Memorandum of Understanding Re: Filling Residual Vacancies for employees in the Clerk Craft. The memo outlines a procedure for filling residual vacancies in the Clerk, Maintenance and Motor Vehicle Crafts.

The MOU was due to expire on Oct. 31 for employees Clerk Craft, but continue for employees in the Maintenance and MVS Crafts. An agreement signed Oct. 31 extends the Memorandum of Understanding for clerks.

The MOU has resulted in the conversion of more than 5,200 Postal Support Employees (PSEs) to career status in the Clerk Craft, more than 3,000 in Maintenance Craft, and hundreds in the Motor Vehicle Service Craft.

“I am pleased we were able to extend the MOU, which forged a path to career status for so many PSEs,” said APWU President Mark Dimondstein.
