Support the Postal Employees Relief Fund
November 15, 2012
Damages caused by Hurricane Sandy have created severe hardships for workers in several Northeastern states — including many postal workers.
The storms were a tragedy for many communities, and took the lives of more than 100 people, including Leonard Montalto, an officer of the Staten Island Local APWU.
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has authorized a government-wide, special workplace solicitation through Nov. 21 to aid the continuing relief efforts, and the APWU and the USPS are asking postal workers to donate to the Postal Employees Relief Fund to help victims.
“Many postal workers are still suffering from the tragic events,” Guffey added, “and I ask APWU members to give to PERF. “
To support the effort, you can make a one-time donation to PERF and designate these funds to help postal workers.
How to Donate:
There several ways to contribute. You can:
- Donate online via debit or credit card through the PERF website, www.postalrelief.com;
- Mail a check to PERF at Postal Employees' Relief Fund, PO Box 7630, Woodbridge, VA 22195; or
- Use your mobile device to text a $10 donation to PERF at 50555.
