This is in further reference to your letters of March 18, 1975, and March 21, 1975, regarding an overtime policy that is being used at Akron, Ohio. Investigation of this matter has disclosed that local management, in posting the overtime policy announcement dated March 5, 1975, acted to prevent the recurrence of a situation in which several employees failed to work overtime as scheduled and, without authorization, prematurely ended their tour of duty. It is our position that the 10 hour limitation specified in Article VIII, Section 5, F of the National Agreement does not apply to employees whose names are on the overtime desired list. By placing their names on the list, such employees are indicating their availability to work overtime as needed during the quarter that the list is in effect.
