Oct. 6 is the voter registration deadline in seven states, with the cut-off date approaching in many others. States with an Oct. 6 deadline include Florida, Colorado, Indiana, and Virginia, which are considered “battleground states.” Georgia, Arizona, and Kentucky also close their voting rolls Oct. 6.

“Registering new voters is an important task for the labor movement,” said APWU President William Burrus. “If you know someone who has not yet registered, please urge him or her to do what is necessary to vote in this crucial election. It’s quick and easy.”

Many states, including Florida, Colorado, and Indiana, also allow “early voting,” which is expected to account for up to 30 percent of votes in some states. More than a dozen states also permit “no excuse” absentee voting, which voters can submit absentee ballots without providing a reason.
