An Update on the Social Security Fairness Act

Time is running out to get the Social Security Fairness Act (HR 82) passed. We are asking every APWU member to call Monday, September 9th and demand our representatives sign the discharge petition (HR 1410).
APWU Protests Bidding ‘Outage’

The APWU has expressed outrage over the Postal Service’s unilateral decision to shut down online bidding from Jan. 28 until Jan. 31, and for giving the union only 24-hour notice of its plans.
With Slow Progress, Contract Talks Continue

“Although progress in contract negotiations is slow, bargaining is ongoing,” APWU President Cliff Guffey reported on Jan. 28. Representatives of the Postal Service and the union are meeting almost daily, he added.
USPS Notifies Union of Bidding 'Outage'

The Postal Service has notified the APWU that posting and bidding will be disrupted while management upgrades the computerized bidding system, beginning at 12:01 p.m. CST on Friday, Jan. 28.
APWU Denounces Post Office Closure Plans

The union is “deeply disappointed” by the Postal Service’s announcement — via the Wall Street Journal — that it plans to close as many as 2,000 post offices beginning in March, APWU President Cliff Guffey said Monday.
National Officers to Meet in February
