Below is a statement from APWU Mark Dimondstein on the decision by the Democratic National Committee to restore access to a critical voter database to the presidential campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders.

"Thanks to an immediate and massive protest by fair-minded individuals and organizations against the heavy-handed, anti-democratic tactics of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Bernie Sanders campaign now has had full access restored to the critical DNC voter database!

"Congratulations to all of you who stood up for what was right, signed petitions, and raised your voices high. (More than a half million petition signatures were gathered within a few hours.)

"For those who believe in democracy – whatever our political persuasion or candidate of choice – the actions of the DNC were rightfully seen as a blatant effort to undermine one campaign (in this case the Sanders campaign) to the benefit of another. It was an effort to silence the pro-worker, pro-union, anti-Wall Street message carried forward by Bernie Sanders.

"The corporate powers that be, including those running the DNC, are clearly afraid of the message of the Sanders campaign. The APWU leadership welcomes it, as do millions of people around the country."
