Ask Senators: Stop Service Cuts and Plant Closures

The work of APWU members and supporters across the country is paying off: Fifty senators have agreed to co-sign a letter to the leaders of the Senate Appropriations Committee urging them to stop devastating cuts to America’s postal network. The senators are asking that the committee include language in its appropriations bill that would maintain USPS service standards at current levels and prevent the closure or “consolidation” of mail processing plants in 2015. 

To ensure the Senate Appropriations Committee acts to protect speedy mail delivery, our jobs and our facilities, the APWU is asking all union members and supporters to urge their senators to sign on if they haven’t already done so.

The authors of the letter to the Appropriations Committee, Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), have set Aug. 11 as the deadline for getting additional lawmakers to sign on, so it is essential to act quickly.
