Two New APWU Flyers Support Obama
October 20, 2008
Flyers urging union members to vote for Barack Obama for president and for pro-worker legislators in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives are being distributed to APWU members.
A flyer mailed to APWU members who reside in “battleground states” outlines Obama’s positions on issues of concern to workers and middle-class families. The states identified as “battlegrounds” are: Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
A flyer also has been mailed to APWU retirees, comparing the records of Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain on issues of importance to retirees and senior citizens.
The APWU will soon mail a letter to APWU members in battleground states and in other states that have important contested Senate and House races, encouraging our members to vote for candidates who support their interests.
“As Election Day draws near, we can expect an onslaught of dirty tricks and negative advertising,” APWU President William Burrus said. “I urge you to advise your members not to allow themselves to be distracted from the issues, and to support Barack Obama for president!”
