Union Offers Online Scheduling Tool
November 1, 2011
The APWU has posted a scheduling tool on the union’s Web site that will help local unions win desirable duty assignments in the Clerk Craft. The Functions 1 and 4 Scheduler tool for Creating Desirable Duty Assignments can be accessed only by local union presidents.
In accordance with the 2010-2015 Collective Bargaining Agreement, when management proposes to create Non-Traditional Full-Time (NTFT) duty assignments, the local union must be afforded an opportunity to review, comment, make suggestions, and provide alternative schedules.
Using Postal Service data requested and input by local unions, the scheduling tool will suggest various alternate desirable duty assignments. The program will review all Clerk work hours to design the alternate schedules.
The Clerk Division has also prepared slideshows on how to input Function 1 [slideshow] and Function 4 [slideshow] data into the Scheduler program.
To access the program, local presidents must consent to a Terms of Use Agreement..
The online program updates a tool that was distributed to local presidents on DVD, and will be updated periodically.
