This grievance involves the Accident Reduction Program implemented on July 16, 1982, at the Spokane Post Office. During our discussion we agreed that according to ELM 543.223, in non-emergency situations, a postal supervisor is not authorized to accompany an employee to a medical facility or physician's office. We agreed that the provisions of ELM 542.1, 544.1, and 545 must be followed when continuation of pay is involved. We also agreed that paragraph 3 of the local policy statement is to be rewritten to conform with the above-referenced sections of the ELM. Accordingly, the case is hereby remanded to Step 3 for compliance with this decision.
