This grievance is settled in accordance with the M-54 Handbook, Section 430, "After approximately two hours, operators will be given a 15-minute break." The 15-minute break is given for the approximately two hours time spent on the letter sorting machine. The M-54 does not specify the nature of the activity following the break period. Therefore, regardless of the activity schedule to follow a break period, machine operators are entitled to a 15 minute break after approximately 2 hours of machine operation. This settlement is without precedent and without prejudice to the position of either party, it may not be cited by either party in any future grievance, hearing, arbitration or for any other purpose.
