An extensive evaluation of the training program and machine capabilities of the Multi-Position Plat Sorter was conducted last year at the request of the union. The purpose was to further determine the optimum qualifying speed for operators. As you know the current qualifying speed is 50 pieces per minute. The Mail Processing Department has informed me that, as a result of the evaluation, the qualifying speed will be reduced to 45 pieces per minute. You will be further advised of the effective date for this change as software and handbook changes are completed.
