The question raised in this grievance is whether an employee can be detailed to a supervisory position for a portion of a tour and assigned to perform bargaining-unit work for a portion of the same tour. During our discussion, we agreed that while there is no contractual prohibition against an employee serving in a supervisory status for a portion of a day, normally an employee who is detailed as an acting supervisor will not perform bargaining-unit work prior to the workday immediately following the termination of the detail. Because the information presented in this case did not establish a conflict with the foregoing, we agreed to close this case with the understanding that the fact circumstances in each similar case must be examined in order to make a determination whenever this question is raised.
