On May 9, 2025, the Postal Board of Governors announced the selection of David Steiner as the next Postmaster General (PMG). The labor movement holds one value above all others: solidarity. Labor demands an end to the Trump administration’s assaults on immigrant workers, freedom of speech, the right to organize and bargain, and federal government workers, their unions, and the services they provide.
In a document circulated within the banking industry, Wells Fargo equity analysts argue that postal privatization could be a huge money-maker for investors. They advise the administration to sell off the most profitable parts of the service – primarily packages and parcels, while putting taxpayers on the hook for the rest.
