The APWU joins postal employees across the nation in mourning the death of Vincent R. Sombrotto, former president of the National Association of Letter Carriers. As a rank-and-file Letter Carrier in New York City, Sombrotto became a hero of the Great Postal Strike of 1970, which lead to the creation of the modern U.S. Postal Service.

“Throughout his life, Vince Sombrotto worked tirelessly to improve the lives of postal employees and all workers,” said APWU President Cliff Guffey. “His contributions were great and he will be sorely missed.”
