Support Services Craft Director Stephen R. Brooks has appointed Judy McCann of the Twin Cities PDC Local to serve as the craft’s new National Business Agent, effective Nov. 12. Delegates to the 2016 APWU National Convention voted to add an NBA to the Support Services Division, which had a single national officer, the director.

“There were many qualified members within the division for consideration, so the decision was a tough one,” Brooks said.

“Judy McCann has been a great union activist for many years and has always been a hard worker. She is dedicated to the APWU and in particular to Support Services members,” he said.

McCann joined the APWU at the start of her postal career 36 years ago. She has served in numerous union positions at the local level, including delegate to the St. Paul Regional Labor Federation, steward, arbitration advocate and president. McCann served on the local’s legislative and organizing committees and as Secretary-Treasurer and editor of the Minnesota Postal Workers Union.

McCann has also served on the IT/AS (Information Technology/Accounting Services) contract negotiation committee and on the Support Services Committee at the 2012 and 2014 National Conventions. She has been a national training advocate for the Retirees Department, has conducted retirement seminars across the country, and helped establish two retiree chapters in Minnesota.

“I look forward to working with Judy and welcome the knowledge and dedication she will bring to the position,” Brooks said.
