APWU Offers DVDs Honoring President Burrus
October 15, 2010
To honor APWU President William Burrus for his many years of service, union members are invited to purchase commemorative DVDs celebrating Burrus’ 53-year postal career. Proceeds from sales of the two-disc set, priced at $20, will benefit the union’s Committee On Political Action (COPA).
The DVDs feature a recording of a celebration of Burrus’ accomplishments at a tribute dinner held on Aug. 24, during the union’s National Convention in Detroit, MI. His presidency was praised by former Congressman Bill Clay Sr. (D-MO); former AFL-CIO president John Sweeney; APWU Secretary-Treasurer Liz Powell, and former Retirees Director Douglas C. Holbrook. Burrus will retire at the end of his term in mid-November.
The video also includes footage of Secretary-Treasurer Powell and Western Region Coordinator Omar Gonzalez reading a letter to Burrus from President Barack Obama.
To order DVDs, members should contact Sally Davidow, APWU Communications Department senior manager, at sdavidow@apwu.org. Because sales of the DVDs will benefit COPA, payment cannot be made from the funds of local or state organizations. Only money orders or personal checks will be accepted. Please note that contributions to COPA are not tax deductible.
