Fighting Workplace Harassment

Harassment, bullying, and toxic supervision have no place in the Postal Service or any APWU workplace. Reporting instances of these behaviours is not only legally protected activity, it’s our obligation. When management ignores its own policies, APWU members stand together to enforce them.

If you feel unsafe, complete PS-Form 1767 immediately and contact your steward.

What Does Workplace Harassment Look LIke?

  • Intimidation, humiliation, or belittling remarks
  • Unwanted physical contact or threats
  • Retaliation after you speak up

Important: harassment does not need to be illegal to be wrong!

How Can We Stop Harassment

  1. Don’t tolerate it: Tell the harasser to stop immediately.
  2. Report it: Contact your APWU steward, and your supervisor or next level of management if your harasser is your supervisor.
  3. Pursue it: File PS 1767 (Report of Hazard, Unsafe Condition or Practice) and communicate with your steward or regional safety representative.

Improving Your Workplace Environment Brochure

Every worker has the right to a work environment free of harassment, hostility, and discrimination. Over many decades, postal management has failed to adequately address hostile work environments. It too often allows, enables, and covers up for abusive managers. This educational brochure, produced by the APWU Industrial Relations Department, is offered to help arm you with your contractual and other rights in the continuing struggle to create a welcoming and safe work environment.
